- Social Drag
Social media can have a huge impact on an individual. Social media provides an individual a way to connect with others of the same field or interest. However steer clear of social drag remarks and comments. Social media allows you to free up your self-marketing time, could you imagine driving around and meeting all your great connection in one day? It would take forever. Meeting great people on-line widens your connection range. Conversation could go on for days building stronger connections. I must admit when I have found a great writer, or Iâm in a conversation with one of my connections, or even got involved in an interesting post, it helps me get up in the morning. One of the first things I do in the morning is turn on the news and then connect with my connections. Sometimes the news plays in the back without my attention because Iâm so in tuned with great articles written by my connections. I have had some great conversations with some of my new connections ranging from inspirational topics, business advice, books, and research topics. In others words, one thing always leads us to another view into life and the business world. Social drag Two thumbs down Remember thereâs nothing more unpleasant then coming a crossed an unmotivated individual in person or on-line. Can you think of a time when In person you ask someone with a smile on your face âHowâs your day!â and in response you get a sad story, like a sad country song waiting for someone to hit the reverse button. Now feeling sullen from the indigent responses you end up walking away (if you can walk away) with a gut-wrenching stomach. Of course you feel sad for the other person but at the same time you were not exactly looking for that type of feeling either. When utilizing social media for a way to connect⌠Just remember on-line unmotivated postings are easier for active viewers to ignore and youâre not going to get the attention you desire if your intentions are to utilize social media sites to network and make positive connections. Not everyone wants to read how your relationship has you in a heartbroken state of mind or how you canât seem to get ahead in life because, well youâre just too darn lazy to get off your butt and take initiative. Take my advice! âDonât utilize social media as a place to vent problematic engagements or in an emotional therapeutic manor.â There is a time and place for everything. Utilizing social media for self-marketing transforms your reality into an on-line tabloid that features, well âYOUâ! Regardless what social media sites you are on you should consider a professional positive image over all. Utilizing social media With the wide variety of social media sites, do your research and see how they're relevant to your experiences. Once you have joined a social group get involved, create meaningful discussions. Build a stronger empire of will being for others. Share your insightful professional experiences. Remember social media is the place to show off your positive attributes in a professional personal manner. Itâs like creating a community group that concentrates on positive well-being, FOR THE COMMUNITY (e.g. Advocates for the Medical Assistant Profession, group on LinkedIn). If youâre not hitting that type of value, youâre missing the target all together. Generate interesting social bloom In this day of age we are dealing with the mass numbers of baby boomers. Sure Iâm not the first one to say this, however not everyone ages the same or has the same outcomes as othe (And I say that mildly). Itâs time that more and more individuals come together and become aware or make aware that there are solutions to the wellbeing of our boomers. For those of you that have insights of these topics I would love to hear from you. ¡ baby boomer resources ¡ share your expert-level knowledge ¡ your unique perspective on an industry norm for baby boomers ¡ tips that someone without your experience may not know ¡ relevant best and worst case studies ¡ simplify complex information I look forward to reading your insights on these topics, and happy writing. Making the best of social mediaâŚ. Robin-Jo
- Body Language
Gain a natural leadership persona Did you know people in powerful positions learn how to present themselves in both professional and personal matters? Self-control and unbiased manner plays a role in the factor. Even though leadership comes natural to âsomeâ, one must still maintain their persona in order to reflect professionalism. When you truly step back and think about your image and reflection what do you find? Impact of body language Regardless if youâve been a leader for years or youâre a start-up leader, body language is important when representing oneself. Picture this, youâre standing out in the wilderness and a bear crosses into your path. The bear spots you and slowly heads toward your direction. It looks hungry and vicious. What to do!? You could talk to the bear and try to persuade the bear to leave you alone, unless you speak bear youâll only be wasting your time. How about body language? Should you not already know, you must appear as big as possible, you can achieve this by standing confident and putting your hands in the air over your head. This analogy may work in the wilderness but not in the real world. Standing in front of others with your hands in the air isnât going to get you anywhere, donât believe me âtry it! In the real world you are standing in front of a huge (BEAR) competitive market, internal customers, clients and competitors. Body language says a lot about a person. Use it wisely. Reflect a positive image on the Outside People in powerful positions learn how to present themselves because they hold themselves to a higher standard of unique values (as mentioned in Self-Marketing âvsâ Personal Branding Article), even on casual Friday they still present professionalism. Why is that? Maybe itâs because they dress accordingly to their body type and age. Get to know your body shape this makes it easier to find new pieces for your wardrobe regardless where you shop, just as long as it's in the right department. After all you wouldn't shop in the baby section for "yourself" why would you shop in the junior section if youâre not a teenager? It's time to grow up! Regardless what you do for a living, there is a way to fulfill your outer image. Imagine the time saved and frustration you'll ultimate by knowing what looks good on you based off your body type. Not to mention the time saved and frustration you'll ultimate by knowing what looks good on you based off your body type and how effortless it becomes. Body Shapes to research Woman there are 4 types of body shapes; Triangle Invert triangle Rectangle Hour glass Men there are 3 body shapes; Ectomorph Mesomorph Endomorph Reflect a positive image on the Inside As with any interest, in order to master a skill one must persuade the conscience mind, the subconscious mind, and most important âExperienceâ the subject matter. Conscious mind is run by verbal persuasion. Subconscious mind is run by images The both have to be focused on the same subject in order to move in the same direction. Just like when you went to college, or when you worked on hobbies. You stay in tuned with the interest. My advice is to find inspiration if you don't already have it. Take note of surrounding leaders around you. Watch business like movies with empowering roles: âThe Proposalâ, âDevil Wears Pradaâ, or this all-time classic âRisky Businessâ. Leadership starts from within A natural leadership persona starts from within, one must work at it. Remember leadership is not dressing like a million dollars or spending substantial amount of money on a fancy hair designer. However having a clean image and a wardrobe suitable for your age is appropriate. Keep your conscious mind and subconscious mind moving in the same direction. Study your resources, find a few mentors. What do them and you have in common? If, anything. Itâs all in the way you see the world, and how you want the world to see you. Youâre bound to master a unique natural leadership persona with best efforts. Posted by: Robin-Jo Rios
- Self-Marketing âvsâ Personal Branding?
ARE YOU REFLECTING YOUR STRENGTHS WELL, OR DO YOUR WEAKNESSES SHINE BRIGHTER? Self-Marketing âIS THE REFLECTIONâ of your personal brand as an individual. Just as in business, a product or service has branding characteristics. In business some may think that branding consist of âChannel Marketingâ concepts such as logos, advertising, corporate identity, and marketing campaigns. Well it doesn't! âBusiness Brandingâ and âPersonal Brandingâ represents the same concepts; actions (actions speak louder than words), compassion (the emotional connection for/with others), confidence (the pride taken in strengths) and unique values (the rules you abide by) that creates that emotional connection with something, someone or someplace. In business when marketing a product or service âbrandâ it is marketed to a defined demographic. An individualâs personal brand defines who they are. So the question is are you reflecting your strengths well, or do your weaknesses shining brighter? Think of it this way Itâs like walking into your favorite store (like one of those mom and pop shops), or restaurant of your choice, not because it is convenient location and close to home. Itâs a store of choice with a sincere emotional connection for you. It makes you feel good, if you could you would wrap your arms around it and huge the entire place. The emotional connection you feel is the characteristics of the brand. Itâs more than meets the eyes; the four walls, dĂŠcor, and lighting. Itâs the people that clearly define the place with sincere compassion, actions, confidence, and unique values. Everything about your favorite store or restaurant screams âWelcomeâ. Now can you image if those four walls, dĂŠcor, and people were of difference? Do you think you would have the same emotional connection? More than likely not. For the same reason you didnât choose any other store location or restaurant that already contained the imaged difference. If you take away one, yes only one branding characteristics like the compassion of the people, your left with a âLooks are deceiving atmosphereâ. âIf it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck, than it probably is a duck?â (Yes of course obviously itâs a duck) but who wants to do business with a âprobablyâ kind of person or business? People want certainty. For the same reason people use the same products or services over and over, itâs the emotional connection that brings them back. Itâs a comfort zone, âbutâ with limits. A few years ago when the recession started and people lost jobs, due to businesses closing their doors. It took a toll on every aspect of the business world. Like take for example the loss in sales of common household products. I noticed as a reaction, some product businesses started changing product formulas, changing logos and changing labels in efforts to entice consumers. The discomfort from the effects of the economy were already bad, so reaching for comfort from your preferred products or services was much needed, but gone as well. I canât even begin to tell you how many products I stopped using because of formula change (remember the new Coca-Cola formula introduced in 1985- some businesses never learn from others). These were products that I used in my childhood will into adult hood. Dealing with a âslightâ label or logo change is fine however the slightest formula change completely threw off the brand for me. Add Value In my option changing an original formula of a product may not always be in the best interest for any product. Imagine buying your favor perfume and the company changed the smell all together but still labeled it with the same name. Itâs just not the same thing. It smells different. You canât always change a product formula, but you can add to its collection, just like adding more value to your self-marketing reflection. Self-marketing is a reflection of your personal brand characteristics. Anyone can reflect their strengths well by being âsincereâ with actions, compassion, confidence, and unique values. - Understand People, Understand You
As we bring in the New Year and set resolutions letâs give ourselves the chance to âAlways Stay Positiveâ with ourselves and others. How might we go about that? Letâs talk about personal branding. Personal branding starts the second you wake up in the morning. Your actions, compassion, confidence and unique values are what set you apart from others. Negative perceptions of life and others reflect on your body language, there is no perfect poker face because of variable change; negative thoughts have a way of reflecting one way or another. Better to stay positive and reflect happiness then to think bad and reflect negativity. Working successfully with other people builds positive self attributes. What better way to do that then getting acquainted with some personality traits. During my collage years I became quite fond of the Maslow Hierarchy of Needs and the various personality types. I came to see that regardless of career choice, job title, involvement in the community dealing with other individuals is not only a part of life it's a way of life. If you canât understand people you wonât understand business. Since we are here on earth and not in the Twilight Zone there is no exact formula of personality theories or 100% belief of the Maslow theory, but in my option it is almost dead on target. As you can see in the chart above it shows all the tiers of needs to fulfill personal attributes of Physiological, Safety, Love/belonging, Esteem, and Self-actualization. Honestly it does not matter if an individual is rich or poor in order to satisfy these attributes. Personalities Versatile personality traits are what make up our world of artist, inventors, entrepreneurial spirited, and doctors, lawyers, business people and external customers, internal customers. No matter where we are standing at this moment of time we will always be dealing with other individuals. So it is okay to be knowledgeable of others. In this article I will briefly discuses a handful of traits; extroverts, introverts, and judgmental personalities. Extroverts Extroverts tent to get their energy from social stimulation. They need to stay engaged and enjoy others company. Their emotional outcome feeds off of others. Extroverts should have no problem fulfilling Maslow theory given they have self-control on staying in a positive path. Introverts Introverts are quite the opposite, social settings can drain their energy. Although introverts can still deal with social type settings they still need to have time to themselves in order to recharge. Their emotional outcome comes from within. Because Introverts are harder to knock down emotionally, regardless what is thrown at them, Maslow theory is at easier reach just as long as they donât isolate themselves. It has been said that there are even individuals that share both of these personality traits called Ambiverts. Lack of compassion Lack of compassion, everyone knows a few of them âknown as judgmental personality. This type, nothing anyone else does is ever right or good enough. Judgmental personalities can be aggressive people. If you deal with this type of character continue to share your compassion with them. Hopefully it will start to rub off. Personality traits come in a wide range of theories. Donât stop here at with this article; indulge yourself on doing further research. Not everyone we deal with is going to be easy. Having a basic understanding of personality traits and a full understanding of yours will set your unique personal brand. THE MOST CERTAIN WAY TO SUCCEED IS ALWAYS TO TRY JUST ONE MORE TIME. âTHOMAS A. EDISON
